1. The local police race to the scene

You chose:
1. The local police race to the scene.

Almost immediately after my head hits the entryway floor with a muffled thud, sirens blazing and lights whirling, the local police surround the house of my friend with the tiled living room floor. Gordon didn't realize this, but in a brilliant moment of foresight, I had dialed 911 when he showed up at my door. One can never trust a British chef who shoots an Army Ranger in the middle of a cafeteria. That's just rude. And so is showing up in the middle of the night at the house of the employee who was just fired. Or worse, the house of a friend with a tiled living room floor.

The police order Gordon to raise his arms. They slowly approach him, slam him pretty-face first onto the ground, and quickly find the murder weapon still on his person. They cuff him, and he is taken into custody, never to shoot another unarmed man again. He is sentenced to life in prison, with the jury's final note: "We want him to rot in Hell--'s Kitchen."

THE END.
